Alexander Hernandez has another lightweight veteran in his sights.

MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz and Damon Martin confirmed with sources that Hernandez (10-2) and Francisco Trinaldo (23-6) have agreed to meet in a lightweight bout at UFC San Antonio, which takes place at AT&T Center on July 20. The main card will air live on ESPN.

Cageside Press was first to report the matchup.

Hernandez and Trinaldo were actually supposed to fight at UFC 233 in January, but Hernandez was re-booked to face Donald Cerrone one week earlier at UFC Brooklyn. The 26-year-old, who fights out of San Antonio, would go on to lose to Cerrone by second-round TKO. That result snapped an eight-fight win streak for Hernandez.

The Hernandez-Trinaldo matchup then almost landed on the UFC 241 card in Edmonton, Alberta, on July 27, but was rescheduled for San Antonio. The fighters are now awaiting new paperwork to compete on July 20.

Trinaldo, 40, has alternated wins and losses in his last five bouts, sandwiching victories over Evan Dunham, Jim Miller, and Paul Felder with defeats at the hands of James Vick and Kevin Lee. Overall, “Massaranduba” has won nine of his last 11 fights and he has a 13-5 record in the UFC.
