North Dublin hardman Conor McGregor bowed out of the fight game earlier this year following a crushing defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The former UFC superstar, however, appears to have confirmed that he will return to the canvas to have another crack at the boxing game.
And the former featherweight champion sounds as though he wants another bite at the big-time, calling out money man Mayweather in a tweet.
“bro you’d get slapped no lie”
The Irishman wrote: “Boxing is great, I am going to relish another go!
“I challenge Juan Manuel Mayweather to a rematch. Under the tutelage of my old club.
“We’ll see then mate.”
The reaction from Twitter users was mixed, with some fight fans blasting McGregor saying the Irishman had his chance but failed to produced the goods.
One wrote: “bro you’d get slapped no lie.”
Others suggested that McGregor was only interested in a return to boxing for the financial reward.
Another Twitter user said: “Must be needing money…”
Since McGregor left the ring speculation has been rife that the 30-year-old could make an imminent return.
Earlier this year McGregor boxed at his local club in Dublin.
Brit fighter Amir Khan has previously called the Irishman out but that fight has yet to materialise.
