Frank Lampard says Tammy Abraham would have gotten a chance from the Chelsea first-team this season, regardless of the move ban of the club.
Abraham took his tally at Wolves, which raised him into the Premier League’s peak goalscoring charts with a hat-trick in Saturday’s win.
Lampard states that the 21-year-old is not exceeding expectations also believes there is more to come from the striker.
“I had clear expectations , just the simple fact that I believed in him and trusted him,” said the Chelsea boss.
“I know a lot has been made of the ban, giving young players possible chances, however I felt that the time was appropriate for Tammy to have his chance at this bar anyhow, due to the caliber he’s got.
“I’m really delighted he has his goals, I think there is more to come. He. Together with his mindset I aspire to find that.”
In terms of the chance of England missing out on Abraham should he opt to play with Nigeria, Lampard said:”That is not a matter for me. Being leading goalscorer at this point put him himself.
“It is one for Gareth [Southgate]; I would hate to step on his toes. However, it’s clear Tammy is going to be wanted.”
Lampard is relishing the possibility of Chelsea in the Champions League for the first time, with enjoyed plenty of amazing nights as a participant, and he intends to speak about the challenges of playing in the contest to his squad.
“It differs in its nature,” said Lampard. “The major thing that I discovered as a participant was your focus and attention levels, during every match, have to be completely spot on.
“That is not to mention you can get away with things from the Premier League but the higher degree of participant in the Champions League, different manner of games can sometimes surprise you.
“The trouble for this game, Valencia are excellent on the counter-attack and can hurt you in a single second when you feel you’re controlling the match. That focus throughout would be the primary point.”
Lampard will soon likely probably be confronting a manager in Albert Celades, that had been appointed following the jolt of Marcelino last week as Valencia boss.
The players of valencia have been known to be unhappy with the conclusion and there is talk that they will not appear alongside Celades in the club’s press conference later on Monday.
“I am mindful of what’s going on but in precisely the same time it doesn’t impact our approach,” said Lampard.
“We’re going up against a group which has fantastic quality. What I’ll say is my experience of moments like this it makes the team tighter.
“Sometimes it can be a positive as much as a negative about the pitch”
Antonio Rudiger may miss the match after injuring his groin through the win at Wolves. He will have a scan on Monday.
Lampard also disclosed N’Golo Kante and Callum Hudson-Odoi are all”fit, but maybe not match fit”, so won’t feature against the La Liga side.
