Alberta’s Hakeem Dawodu is getting another fight close to home.
The Calgary native will fight Yoshinori Horie in a featherweight bout at UFC 240 on July 27 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, officials announced Thursday following an initial report by TSN.
This will be Dawodu’s second time fighting in Alberta and third time fighting in Canada. He has won his last two fights, defeating Kyle Bochniak at UFC 231 in Toronto and Austin Arnett at UFC on FOX 30 in Calgary. Dawodu is 2-1 in the UFC and 9-1-1 overall since turning pro in 2014.
Horie (8-1) is coming off of a sensational first-round finish of Hiroshige Tanaka at Pancrase 303 this past March.
Yoshinori Horie (@yossy05101) strikes again, starching Hiroshige Tanaka in round one! The former Neo Blood MVP has scored five of his last six wins by knockout, four in the opening frame. Keep an eye on this top Japanese prospect, now 8-1 in his young career. #Pancrase303 pic.twitter.com/SLgnjBIszA
