Paul Gallo has been an integral part of the sport of wrestling in New Canaan for the last 30-plus years.
The Rams’ head coach starting in the 1989-90 season, Gallo announced earlier this year that he would stepping down from the head coaching position and will now work as an assistant coach for Bobby Rushton.
The Rams, including all of the current youth and high school wrestling families, will be honoring their long-time coach during The Paul Gallo Night to Benefit New Canaan Wrestling on Tuesday, Nov 26, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Waveny House.
A graduate of New Canaan High School in the Class of 1980, Gallo has been coaching the Rams’ wrestlers since the 1989-90 season.
Under his guidance, New Canaan has had 22 FCIAC champions, six CIAC State Open champs, two New England champions, and one National champion along the many other terrific young wrestlers he has coached
The Rams are extending an invitation to all of coach Gallo’s wrestlers and their families dating back to the 1989-90 season to attend the special event later this month.
