Californian Daniel Rodriguez (10-1) is the new opponent for Moriarty’s Tim Means (29-11-1) on the Feb. 15 UFC card at the Santa Ana Star Center, the UFC announced on Monday.
Rodriguez will be making his UFC debut. He replaces Russia’s Ramazan Emeev, who withdrew due to what was termed a family matter.
The Alhambra, California fighter appeared on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series in July, defeating Rico Farrington by unanimous decision, but at the time was not offered a UFC contract. He since his defeated Quinton McCottrell by second-round TKO and has won his last six fights.
Means, 11-8 in UFC competition, returned in December from a nine-month layoff after breaking his leg and ankle in a loss to Niko Price and defeated Thiago Alves by first-round submission (guillotine choke).
Shortly thereafter, he signed a new UFC contract.
