Rob Shermer is a mixed martial artist out of Diego Bispo academy in Virginia Beach, VA. Coming off of a loss at Cowboy Fight Series 2, “The Slugger” Shermer has a lot to prove at Cowboy Fight Series 3 as he is slotted in the semi finals bracket of the lightweight tournament. His opponent will be a familiar face for him in Zach “Hapa Hulk” Krapf.
Shermer’s last outing took place at 145lbs, a weight he didn’t feel quite fit to his physique. After assessing where Shermer went wrong, he regrouped, and made the proper adjustments needed and lightweight seemed to be a proper fit for “The Slugger” as he confidently states, “I’m 1000% ready to fight on Saturday night”. Adding, “the leaps that I’ve made for this fight and this weight cut are just insane man! I’m not getting into the sauna! There is no sauna for me. I’m basically on weight right now!”
Shermer has had the direct first hand experience with his opponent by cornering “Hapa Hulk” in Krapf’s last bout against Craig Willingham. Speaking highly of his upcoming opponent, Shermer says, “He’s a savage! And I like this fight because he brings the problems that I’ve kind of couldn’t solve before, so to speak.”
Discussing his thoughts on the bout and choice of opponent, Shermer says, “Not to sound arrogant, but I’ll excel wherever! I know that my striking makes people want to grapple, you know? I make everyone want to grapple! That’s a fact! Without taking anything away from Krapf, Shermer emphasized, “Zach’s durable and he’s got the will and the heart of a lion, (but) I think he will want to go to the ground!
