SUBIC BAY FREEPORT ZONE (UPDATED)—Filipino strikers added more gold to the country’s harvest with dominant victories Southeast Asian Games muay Thai on Sunday.
Ariel Lampacan achieved a golden finish at Subic Exhibition and Convention Center here by upsetting Thailand’s Chamchit Sakshai in the men’s 54 kg final.
Chamchit posted an early 10-9 lead in the first round, but the gutsy Lampacan rallied in the next 2 rounds to win 29-28.
Phillip Delarmino followed suit by outstriking Vietnam’s Doan Long Nguyen in the men’s 57 kg finals.
Delarmino was so dominant that he ruled all three rounds 30-27.
Pinay fighters Islay Bomogao and Jenelyn Olsim, meanwhile, won silver medals.
Bomogao yielded to Ketmani Chasin of Thailand in the women’s 45 kg, as Olsim lost to Bui Ly Yen of Vietnam in the women’s 54 kg.
