IN combat sports like boxing, muay thai or mixed martial arts, it’s extremely common to see bloody injuries.
However, in grappling combat matches where punches and kicks are not thrown – like wrestling and brazilian jiu-jitsu, very rarely do you see very serious injuries.
However in Russia, a video of a grappling match is going viral and it shows a Russian fighter named Payzutdin breaking his neck and screaming in agony.
The Russian attempted a move called an arm-bar, popular in jiu-jitsu, but fell on his head. According to Russian reports, he was diagnosed with “a brain contusion, a closed craniocerebral trauma and a fracture of the cervical vertebrae with damage to the spinal cord.”
It is claimed that the fighter’s arms and legs are now paralysed due to the injury.
