Training out of Vityaz Fight Club in Moscow, Russia, Dzhabar “Genghis Khan” Askerov, 33, of Dagestan, Russia was one of the winners at “ONE: Enter the Dragon.” It marked his debut in ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.

Featuring 10 mixed martial arts matches and six ONE Super Series contests, which were six kickboxing bouts, “ONE: Enter the Dragon” was the Singapore-based martial arts organization’s second event in 2019 that took place in Singapore. In the fifth bout of the evening, Askerov fought Enriko “The Hurricane” Kehl, 27, of Thuringia, Germany in a ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix quarter-final match.

Exhibiting power, Askerov picked Kehl apart with crisp combinations and thunderous kicks throughout the contest. After three three-minute rounds, the kickboxing contest was left in the hands of the judges.

In the end, referee Atsushi Onari raised the hand of Askerov, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision. This made the Dagestani kickboxer the first to advance into the semi-finals of the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix.

Winning at “ONE: Enter the Dragon” improved the professional kickboxing record of Askerov to 108 wins, 35 losses and 2 draws. On the other hand, Kehl now has 48 wins, 15 losses and 2 draws.

Askerov and Kehl solely represented Russia and Germany, respectively, at “ONE: Enter the Dragon.” Australia, Argentina, Brazil, China, France, India, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Moldova, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine and the United States were also represented.

Born in Kurah, Dagestan on January 24, 1986, Askerov is of Lezgin descent. He was 6 years old when he started his training in judo and was 9 years old when he started his training in Muay Thai.

In 2008, Askerov competed in the reality show “The Contender Asia,” which aired on AXN Asia, ITV4, Versus, DStv and FOX8. He made it to the semi-finald.

As a professional MMA fighter, Askerov has 8 wins and 0 loss. As a professional boxer, he has 1 win and 0 loss.
