Upcoming horror-thriller Come Play directed by Jacob Chase is all set to release on July 24, 2020. Produced by Andrew Rona, Alex, Heineman, Andrew Calif and Amblin Partners, Participant Media, and The Picture Company and distributed by Focus Features, the story is said to be based on Larry, a short movie also directed by Chase.
The story revolves around a monster named Larry that manifests itself through smartphones and electric devices. The protagonist, Oliver, seeks empathy and companionship to the world of cell phones, tablets and video games. But the story takes a twist when his electronic devices turn against him, influenced by the monster, and intrudes his world, when his parents come to the rescue, saving their son from the evil beyond the screen. But the question is, is Larry really the evil here, or is it also desperate to seek equal and reciprocated companionship?
The Creepshow got a nod from Focus Features a few months back. It is heard that the movie will compete with Disney’s action-comedy Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne Johnson and Searchlight’s romantic drama-comedy, The French Dispatch from Wes Anderson.
The music has been looked after Roque Banos and cinematography by Maxime Alexander.
